Team Ontario consists of the top male and female basketball players in the province in the U15 and U17 age categories and the teams are a continual medal favourite at the annual Canada Basketball National Championships. Team Ontario’s coaching staff also represents some of the top coaches in Ontario.
Athletes in the Talent Identification and Development Programs (TIDP) as well as the Centre of Performance (CP) have an opportunity to develop and experience Team Ontario and continue throughout the provincial team pathway competing for the province and showcasing the skills internationally at the U15 and U17 levels.
All four programs competed at the 2015 Canada Basketball National Championships. The girls competed in Edmonton, Alberta from July 24–29 and the boys were hosted in Halifax, Nova Scotia from August 3–9. Both girls teams captured gold as did the U15 Boys, and the U17 Boys earned silver.
The 2016 National Championships for girls will be taking place from July 25–30 at the University of Regina in Saskatchewan, and the boys' National Championships will be at the University of Winnipeg in Manitoba from August 1–6.
