QUEST FOR GOLD 2016-17 CRITERIA RELEASED
Ontario Basketball (OBA) is pleased to announce the Quest for Gold – Ontario Athlete Assistance Program (OAAP) criteria for 2016-17. In accordance with the Quest for Gold – OAAP, OBA has made amendments to the program by adopting Canada Basketball’s sport-specific athlete selection criteria, which will be applied to future national team athletes who are approximately one (1) to three (3) years away from making a national team.
The adoption of this criteria aligns with the overarching goal of the Quest for Gold – OAAP, which is directly related to the High Performance sport goal of the Canadian Sport Policy – that Canadians are systematically achieving world-class results at the highest levels of international competition – by improving the performance and number of Ontario athletes performing at the national and international level, thereby contributing to the improved performance of Canada at international competitions.
All eligible athletes are automatically considered and ranked by the selection criteria process and therefore there is no formal application process. Athletes who are participating in post-secondary basketball – Ontario University Athletics (OUA) and Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) – who wish to be considered must contact Canada Basketball to obtain a letter of support indicating they are a nationally identified athlete who has potential to be selected to a national team.
