EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: MANAGER, CLUBS AND COMPETITIONS

Ontario Basketball requires a dynamic leader to manage its Clubs and Competitions division. The successful candidate will be involved in all areas of club development and competitive structure including, but not limited to: Club Excellence, Ontario Cup Provincial Championships, Club Ranking and Seeding, Sanctioned Tournaments and Club Administration. These are well-established programs that require a conscientious and detail-oriented individual.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful candidate will enjoy working as part of a team, will demonstrate an energetic attitude and possess a desire to work in an amateur sport environment. Only individuals with a strong commitment to Ontario Basketball’s mission, vision and values need apply.

Responsibilities of the Manager will include, but are not limited to:
• Manage full-time staff (2), internships (2), Regional Stakeholders Network (Clubs), Ranking Committee and Exemption Committee.
• Serve as the primary liaison with all Ontario Basketball member clubs, ensuring compliance with all published standards and guidelines while providing exceptional customer service.
• Assist in the development, launch and administration of a Club Excellence program.
• Monitor insurance program with member clubs/camps and insurance provider.
• Act as tournament director for Ontario Cup provincial championships.
• Oversee the affiliation and registration of Ontario Basketball clubs, teams, coaches, athletes and managers.
• Approve and activate teams and athletes for sanctioned tournaments and Ontario Cup provincial championships.
• Lead the selection committee for Ontario Cup bid applications.
• Strategize improvements for club guidelines and Ontario Cup initiatives.

Skills and Qualifications:
• A university degree or college diploma in sport administration or sport management.
• Experience managing people and budgets.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of the club system in amateur sport within Ontario.
• Knowledge of the Club Excellence strategy would be an asset.
• Thorough understanding of CS4L and LTAD model.
• Conflict resolution experience.
• Able to work independently, maintain tight schedules and flexible hours (including evenings and weekends) in a dynamic and service-oriented team environment.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills to meet critical deadlines.
